Disney Artist and Speed Painter Visits EMS

November 22nd, 2024

This fall, Landmark's Elementary•Middle School community was treated to two inspiring and exhilarating presentations by renowned speed painter and Disney artist, Rob Surette. With credentials like appearances on The Today Show, Good Morning America, The Tonight Show, and Oprah Winfrey, and commissions for the likes of Beyoncee and Queen Raina of Jordan, the crowd was ready to be wowed...and wowed, they were.

Mr. Surette works full-time illustrating for The Walt Disney Company and loves to also perform for schools around the country. In his presention, Surette shows videos highlighting values that all align with Landmark's values while he swiftly paints large-scale masterpieces of Abraham Lincoln, Albert Einstein, Mother Theresa, and others. Sometimes, he paints upside down so his audiences don't know until the last moment, who is represented on his canvas. Students, faculty, and staff were transfixed with his performance. Campus Head, Claire Sullivan said, "Mr. Surette noted how he fed off the energy that our students and faculty were giving him, and he kept asking how we attracted these people who were so different than what he saw in other schools. In a follow-up email, Mr. Surette wrote, 'Landmark School is one of my most favorite visits ever! What an amazing, amazing school!'"

Thank you to the Held Family P'29 for making this program possible.
