Advocates Present to LPA
February 21st, 2023
Landmark School Student Advocates presented at a recent LPA (Landmark Parents' Association) meeting. Student Advocates pick topics related to their learning disabilities, research and form a presentation, then visit teaching colleges and universities in the Boston area as well as public schools to share their first-hand experiences of what it feels like to have a learning disability. Their presentations are impactful, honest, and eye-opening for their audiences. Landmark parents were equally impressed by the presentations from these students.
Some of the topics covered in the presentation included:
- The 3 Main DYS's - An overview of Dyslexia, Dyscalculia, and Dysgraphia
- Dyslexia Throughout a Learners Life
- People with Dyslexia in the Work Environment
- The Importance of Testing for Dyslexia
- An Educator's Paradox: Mental Health and Addiction
- Neurological Differences Between Dyslexic and Neurotypical Brains
- The MIND Theory
