Student Life
at Landmark Elementary•Middle
Landmark offers a variety of services for students to access both during the school day and after school hours. Learn more about what's available through our Student Life department.
After-School Activities
Education doesn’t end at the close of the school day. Landmark students are encouraged to explore interests outside of the classroom to build interpersonal and leadership skills. One way to do this is through our after-school program.
3:00 p.m.– 4:30 p.m.
Seasonal offerings change from year to year based on student interests and staffing and are free of charge. Most activities are open to all students, though occasional age requirements are set.
Examples of After-School Activities
- Art
- Athletics
- Community Action initiatives
- Crafts, Games, and Puzzles
- Drama
- Dungeons and Dragons
- Library/Homework Support
- Mountain Bike Club
- Walking Club
- Other clubs added on request and student interest
Special Programs
Landmark occasionally offers special after-school programs through private service providers as interest and opportunities arise. These activities are on a sign-up basis and require a participation fee.
Community Service
Landmark students are encouraged to support our school community by participating in a variety of citizen student roles including admission panels, tour guides, presentations, and observations. Middle Schoolers take part in structured Leadership programming by grade.
Students also learn the value of community service outside of Landmark through numerous local, national, and international initiatives. Projects change from year to year and are coordinated by individual students, faculty members, the 6th, 7th, and 8th Grade Leadership Teams, or CAT - the Community Action Team.
Recent Community Service Projects Have Included
- food collection for local food pantry
- gift drive for Wellspring Holiday Store
- clothing drive for Boston homeless shelters
- a pet shelter supply drive
In addition to these activities, students coordinate fundraisers for various initiatives.
Dress Code
As a school community, Landmark makes a distinction between the business of the school day and the more relaxed atmosphere of after-hours activities. The purpose of the Dress Code is to place a serious emphasis on the class day and to signify the commitment to learning expected from all members of the Landmark community. During the academic day, students and faculty are expected to wear clothes appropriate for the business of education.
House System
The EMS house system not only enriches our students' academic experience but also helps them grow personally and socially. Learn more about Septentrio, Occidens, Oriens, and Meridies.
Counseling Services
Counselors are available to all Elementary•Middle School students so they can make the most of their Landmark education. Services provided include individual and group counseling, consultation with teachers and parents, psycho-educational class groups, and delivery of the Relaxation Response Program.
Health Services
Student health is of utmost importance. The Landmark School Nursing staff attends to all the medical needs of our students. Learn more about the Health Center, contacting the nursing staff, and more.
