Envisioning Our Future Self
October 11th, 2024
Friday, October 11, 8th-grade students in the Oral Expression/Literature class at Landmark EMS took a creative journey into the future during the “2054 Homecoming Alumni Panel.” Students had to envision their lives 30 years from now, complete with careers, families, and world-changing contributions. Each student had to research, create, and present a slideshow in front of a group of people.
One student hilariously imagined herself married to actor Tom Holland, working as a top heart surgeon, and founding schools for students with unique learning needs. Another student envisioned reversing global warming by repurposing CO2 and leading space junk recycling efforts. A student pictured herself as a neurologist splitting time between Nantucket and Colorado, while another student saw a future as a computer programmer and lacrosse coach. Other highlights included a student's work to save near-extinct animals and a dream job teaching at EMS. These imaginative presentations sparked hope for a bright future, showcasing the students' creativity and ambition.
