Responsibilities

The Math Department Lead Teacher will be responsible for the following skills and tasks and will also work in concert
with and report to the Math Department Head:

Address Student Needs

  • Assist in the Math student scheduling process
  • Collaborate with DH to address student issues that may arise in any math class

Faculty Support & Curriculum Development

  • Plan and implement weekly training for teachers in years 1-2 around grading, lesson planning, implementation of the teaching principles and practices, CPLs, and report writing.
  • Observe new teachers if possible (non-evaluative)
  • As directed by the Department of Student Progress and Performance, read and edit reports
  • Co-plan and run department meetings & training workshops
  • Assist with curriculum development within the department
  • Collaborate with DH to address teacher concerns that may arise in any math class

Materials & Building Management

  • Support organization of the Math Department Drive and update documents (i.e., curriculum folders, Reports guidelines/templates, etc)
  • Order and maintain math materials and spaces within the department
  • Maintain office supplies within the classrooms (including printer management)
  • Maintain an enriching environment in the building (including keeping updated bulletin boards)
  • Point person with general upkeep and maintenance of Governors Landing

Student Life Coverage & Teaching

  • Student Life Coverage will be consistent with the current Lead Teacher role in reflection of the coverage freeze for all positions for ‘25-’26
  • Teach 5 classes with the option of co-teaching

Requirements

Master's Degree in Special Education or a closely related field and licensure as a Teacher of Students with Moderate Disabilities (formerly Special Needs) 5-12 in Massachusetts preferred.
