And We're Back -- Opening Meeting!

September 1st, 2022

On Tuesday, August 30 nearly all of Landmark School's 320+ faculty and staff gathered in the Ansara Athletic Center to gather, hear from new Head of School, Josh Clark, and celebrate the start of another school. year. Teachers had already spent days on our campuses intensively scheduling each and every student, training, revisiting school policies, and preparing materials and classrooms for the upcoming year.

Landmark hosts this gathering annually to help kick off the academic year and take full advantage of the rare opportunity to get nearly all of our faculty and staff in one space at the same time. With two campuses and two separate academic schedules, it's not an easy feat! A small cohort of our residential staff was not able to attend in person as they were covering dorms while students were on campus. Thank you!

Josh took the audience through a presentation where he shared stories of his past to help explain how he came to be a mission-driven educator dedicated to dyslexia and other language-based learning disabilities.

"It was great to learn more about Josh. I was impressed that he balanced sharing what he hopes to improve with respecting and incorporating the strength of Landmark's past. He was engaging, genuine, and personable. I've spoken with a lot of other faculty and a common thread was that his opening remarks invigorated us for this upcoming school year, and our future," said Anna DiPerna, EMS faculty member. Josh received a standing ovation before the crowd dispersed for a festive reception under the tent on the lawn outside of the Athletic Center. The Cookie Wagon was there handing out homemade cookie and ice cream sandwiches along with an array of delicious appetizers and goodies courtesy of SAGE Dining Services. Everyone left feeling energized to begin a new year.
