Landmark Science Students Get Hands-On with Anatomy
March 20th, 2025
Last week, students in Ms. Wilson, Ms. Littlefield, and Ms. Lodge’s science classes teamed up for an unforgettable lab experience focused on the muscles in the body. From the moment class began, students were up and engaged, shouting out what they knew about cells and muscles in a call-and-response activity. Using their hands, they mimicked how lungs and hearts pump oxygen through the body before diving into the real thing.
Ms. Wilson led a lung demonstration, hooking preserved pig’s lungs to a machine while students used bellows to inflate them. They then threw on gloves and eagerly gathered at the front of the room to examine a pig’s heart, feeling the chambers and seeing muscle structure up close. This hands-on approach brought anatomy to life, making for an incredible learning experience!
