Dyslexia Awareness Month
October 23rd, 2023
By Ann Andrew
October is Dyslexia Awareness Month! Landmark has been posting on our social media as well as celebrating on our campuses. Two students in particular led the charge with some fun activities. Take a look!
Mirabel led the campus-wide initiative to participate in IDA’s Rock for Dyslexia Contest. Dyslexia-themed painted rocks will be entered into the national contest, “planted” around campus, then relocated to local community neighborhoods to continue to raise dyslexia awareness. She worked with Mrs. Andrew to develop a presentation that she shared to the whole school. Mrs. Lynch was instrumental in supporting the artistic efforts of all students. Mrs. Johnson and her photography students are credited for the amazing photographs.
Maya hosted an all-school “Wear Red for Dyslexia” day. She worked with Ms. Rozeski to research the history of October’s Dyslexia Awareness month and also presented to the students and staff.
Mrs. Andrew, along with DD-MA, worked with Governor Maura Healey to proclaim October as Dyslexia Awareness month. She photographed students and staff with the proclamation. The proclamation is now traveling throughout the state to further raise awareness of dyslexia.
