Position Overview
The Director of Health Services at Landmark School is a pivotal leadership role responsible for overseeing comprehensive health services across both the high school and elementary•middle school campuses. As a Registered Nurse or Nurse Practitioner, this position ensures the implementation of contemporary procedures, protocols, and practices that enhance the safety, health, and well-being of students. This role includes direct student support, strategic oversight of health services operations, and collaboration with various school departments to foster a holistic, healthy school environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee and ensure the health and safety protocols across both the high school and elementary•middle school campuses, including emergency treatments and routine care within the scope of the Nursing Practice Act.
- Develop and maintain robust health services policies in line with the latest best practices and compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
- Manage comprehensive student health records, including immunization and medication administration records, across both campuses.
- Lead, recruit, and evaluate nursing staff for two on-campus health centers, fostering a team that is highly competent and aligned with the school’s mission.
- Administer the health services budget, oversee the procurement of medical supplies, and ensure proper maintenance of health-related equipment.
- Coordinate and execute state-required screening programs and maintain training standards for health emergency responses such as AED use and CPR.
- Act as a primary health liaison to parents and school personnel, ensuring effective communication and coordination for student health plans and needs.
- Lead initiatives and programs that promote overall wellness and health education among students and staff.
- Support school activities by providing health guidance for field trips and other off-campus events.
- Provide evening and weekend on-call support to nursing and residential staff on the High School campus.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Nursing required; Master’s degree preferred.
- Valid license to practice professional nursing (R.N.) in the state, with all current certifications and immunizations.
- Current certification in CPR and required health screenings.
- Outstanding communication and leadership skills, with the ability to respond effectively to health emergencies.
- Proven ability to manage and elevate health service operations in an educational setting.
