Speed on Land and in the Water

January 8th, 2025

At Landmark School, senior Ella Twomey is a force on the track and running cross country. But her real home away from home is in the pool. This fall, Ella committed to swimming for LeMoyne College's Division I program next year. Despite a stack of high school All-State running medals, Ella is putting swimming above her other athletic talents.

Ella was 11 years old when she began swimming competitively first through the Melrose YMCA Sharks program and most recently through Metro-North YMCA Tritons.

Swimming in multiple events at championship meets throughout this winter and spring, Ella will continue to add more races to her roster as she finishes out her high school swimming career.

Ella credits swimming with helping her grow in every aspect of her life. She uses skills she learned in the pool like hard work, discipline, and perseverance to help her in the classroom. Like many Landmark students, before she arrived on campus, she struggled in school and this affected her confidence. Swimming has always given her confidence and helped her recognize that she is capable of more than she thought possible. We are so proud of you, Ella, and wish you luck next year as a LeMoyne Dolphin!
